1. The beach

Bournemouth is a seaside resort boasting seven miles of golden sandy beaches, which has helped the town to win several awards including four Blue Flag awards and two Seaside Awards.

2. The weather

Unfortunately, we aren’t blessed with sunny, warm weather all year round in England, but of all the locations you could choose, Bournemouth does have the best – with a mild climate across the 12 months and the warmest, driest, sunniest weather during the summer months.

3. Large student community

Bournemouth is a lively, modern and cosmopolitan town, partly due to the large student community as well as being a popular tourist destination that attracts visitors from across the globe throughout the year.

4. The nightlife

You won’t be short of places to spend your evenings, the seaside town has over 200 restaurants and bars and one of the most vibrant club scenes outside of London.

5. Green spaces

Bournemouth offers 2,000 acres of stunning Grade II listed gardens and parks, these are split into three areas of Victorian beauty – starting with the lower gardens, adjacent to the sea, leading to the Central Gardens in the town centre and then the Upper Gardens.

6. The location

Located on the southern coast of England, Bournemouth is less than two hours from London by train. It is also close to some key landmarks and destinations, such as Stonehenge and The Jurassic Coast – England’s first natural World Heritage site – perfect for day trips between studying!

7. Transportation links

The town has excellent transport links, including a mid-size international airport, situated just 15 minutes by car from the town centre. Perfect for those summer holiday getaways to Europe!

8. Outstanding student learning opportunities

Bournemouth University was the first to be commended for the quality of student learning opportunities by the QAA. The university has also been praised for its role in developing Dorset’s creative industry and helping it thrive.

9. Bournemouth Pier

The pier offers a variety of attractions including the RockReef Adventure Activity Attraction featuring the Pierzip – the world’s first Zip Wire from Pier to Beach.

10. Beach sports

The sparkling blue sea is the perfect spot for water activities from wind surfing to jet skiing and the miles of golden sand are ideal for beach activities such as volleyball.
