Deciding what university to go to and to what to study at uni can be tricky. As a prospective student you have access to such a broad range of courses available at universities across the UK. Being overwhelmed with university options can happen easily.

However, you should start by whittling your options down to a shortlist of five courses. Given your UCAS application will let you apply for up to five, this leaves you with space for a number of different choices.

To allow you to answer that nagging question of ‘what uni course should I do’, even when you have your shortlist ready, Whatuni’s ‘My Final 5’ page is the perfect tool.

Not quite ready to put together your Final 5 yet? Learn more about how to pick the perfect uni course for you.

What is the Final 5?

The Final 5 is the shortlist of courses that you’ll submit a UCAS application for. When deciding what to study, these will be the five final options that you are set on gaining university entry into.

Upon submitting your UCAS application, you’ll then find out whether the course has sent you an offer or not. From there, you’ll choose your firm choice (the university you’ll go to if you get the grades) and your insurance choice (your back-up).

To make the process of choosing your final five choices easier, we’ve created a ‘My Final 5’ section of the site just for you. Here you can add, swap, delete and re-add your final five options as much and as often as you want.

Through the ‘My Final 5’ section of your profile, you will be able to compare various elements of the course that include UCAS points needed for entry, drop-out rates, employment rates and the average graduate salary. The comparison will also show where the university ranked in our annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards along with the average rating out of five it’s been given from student reviews.

NOTE: The ‘My Final 5’ page is there to help you create a shortlist. It won't send your application to the university. You still need to go through Hub in UCAS in order to do this.

To access your final five at any time, or make any changes, all you have to do is login to your Whatuni account. If you’ve taken some time away to think about your options and chat with your family about it, you can pick up right where you left off.

The more research you can do into the course options and universities you’re considering, the better equipped you’ll be to make a final decision that suits you. Along the way we’ll remind you of other ways to explore the options you’re considering. With just a click of a button, you’ll be able to:
